Marty Pattin, who gave up three hits and two runs in the first inning, yielded only two more hits over the balance of the route and pitched the Brewers to a 3-2 victory over the Tigers. The Brewers knotted the count against Denny McLain in the fourth on a double by Bob Burda, triple by Roberto Pena and safe bunt by Phil Roof. Dave May then broke the tie with a homer in the fifth.
