Al Fitzmorris pitched the first complete game of his major league career and Ed Kirkpatrick smashed his first grand-slam homer as the Royals beat the Red Sox, 11-3. Kirkpatrick's slam in the eighth inning came off John Curtis, who was appearing in his first game for the Red Sox after being called up from Pawtucket (Eastern).
