After failing to hold two earlier leads, the Senators scored in the 10th inning on a single by Ed Stroud, a hit batsman and a pinch-single by Del Unser to defeat the White Sox, 8-5. The Senators counted twice in the first, but Tommy John batted himself into a tie with a two-run double in the second. After the Nats went ahead again, 5-2, in the fifth, Tommy McCraw, pinch-hitting for John, drove in two runs with a double in the seventh when the White Sox rallied to tie the score.
