Going to extremes, the Giants used a homer by Willie McCovey and a safe bunt by Ken Henderson to rally in the ninth inning for a a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals. After the Redbirds took an early 2-0 lead, Bobby Bonds homered for the Giants in the seventh. McCovey led off the ninth with the tying wallop. Henderson then beat out his bunt, stole second and scored the deciding run on a single by Hal Lanier. [The Sporting News]
