Homers by Chico Salmon and Boog Powell enabled the Orioles to defeat the Brewers, 3-2, behind the three-hit pitching of Jim Palmer, who had a streak of wildness in his only bad inning. Salmon hit his homer with Don Buford on base in the third. Mike Hegan was safe on an interference call against catcher Andy Etchebarren to open the Brewers' seventh. Dave May singled. After both runners advanced on a wild pitch, Danny Walton singled to score Hegan. Another wild pitch led to an intentional pass, loading the bases, and Ted Kubiak then walked, forcing in the tying run.
