Led by Paul Schaal and Tom Matchick, who batted in seven runs between them, the Royals defeated the Yankees for the first time in 10 meetings this season, 8-7. Matchick plated three runs with a double in the second inning. Schaal accounted for two with a triple in the third and added two more with a bases-loaded single in the fifth.
