The Braves built up a 7-0 lead with the aid of five unearned runs and then outlasted the Mets, 7-6. An error by Wayne Garrett enabled the Braves to load the bases in the fifth inning and, with two out, Rico Carty batted in two runs with a single and Hal King added three more with a homer.
