Bernie Smith hit his first major league homer, connecting with a man on base in the 10th inning, to carry the Brewers to a 4-2 victory over the Indians. Mike Hegan also hit a two-run homer to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead in the seventh, but the Indians tied the score with a circuit clout by Roy Foster in the eighth. With two out in the 10th, Ken Sanders helped himself to victory by hitting a single, thus bringing Smith to bat. [The Sporting News]
