The Mets, who had lost three straight games, bounced back behind the five-hit pitching of Jim McAndrew to defeat the Braves, 5-1. The Mets started the scoring with two runs in the first inning on walks to Tommie Agee and Art Shamsky and a two-out double by Donn Clendenon. Agee, who rapped two singles, scored in the third and set up a run in the fourth. The Mets added their final tally on two errors in the fifth. McAndrew yielded the Braves' run in the seventh on a single by Orlando Cepeda and a double by Rico Carty.
