. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Rico Petrocelli started the Red Sox scoring with a homer in the second inning and Reggie Smith hit another round-tripper in the ninth to beat the White Sox, 5-4. In between those blows, the Red Sox scored three runs in the sixth. Tony Conigliaro walked, Petrocelli singled and George Scott was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Billy Conigliaro singled, scoring his brother, and when Carlos May fumbled the ball, Petrocelli also crossed the plate. After a pass to Jerry Moses, Mike Andrews drove in a run with an infield hit. Scott's homer in the ninth proved decisive when Bill Melton hit for the circuit with a man on base in the White Sox half. [The Sporting News]
