Roy White hit the first grand-slam homer of his major league career to provide the Yankees with a 5-2 victory over the Twins. A double by Paul Ratliff drove in the Twins' runs in the second inning. Jake Gibbs hit a homer for the Yankees in the third and then led off the fifth with a single. Jerry Kenney walked.
