Leron Lee homered after a single by Jose Cardenal in the second inning to enable Steve Carlton to pitch the Cardinals to a 2-1 victory over the Dodgers. Carlton gave up a homer by Andy Kosco in the fifth, but the lefthander allowed only two other hits in gaining his seventh victory against 18 defeats. [The Sporting News]
