Loser of eight straight decisions, Wally Bunker broke into the winning column for the first time this season by pitching the Royals to a 4-0 victory over the Angels. The Royals were held to two hits by Tom Murphy until they erupted for their runs in the seventh inning. Singles by Ed Kirkpatrick, Bill Sorrell, Paul Schaal and Tom Matchick produced the first two tallies. When Bunker hit a high bouncer to Jim Spencer, Schaal beat the first baseman's throw to the plate. After George Spriggs forced Bunker, Cookie Rojas singled to score Matchick with the final run.
