Jim Perry posted his 20th victory with a shutout in the opener and the Twins exploded for six runs in the 11th inning of the nightcap to sweep a twi-night doubleheader with the Brewers, 4-0 and 7-1. Harmon Killebrew batted in a total of seven runs for the Twins, including three with a homer to support Perry's pitching.

In the second game, singles by Cesar Tovar and Killebrew, surrounding a sacrifice, gave the Twins their initial run in the first inning. The Brewers knotted the count in the ninth with singles by Tito Francona, Bob Burda and Ted Kubiak. When the Twins broke the game wide apart in the 11th, Killebrew climaxed the outburst by hitting for the circuit with two men on base. [The Sporting News]
