A homer by Jim Wynn after Cesar Cedeno singled in the fourth inning carried the Astros to a 2-1 victory over the Padres. Wade Blasingame, pitching for the Astros, had a shutout in the works until Ollie Brown homered with two out in the ninth. When Blasingame walked Nate Colbert, the Padres' next batter, Fred Gladding relieved and struck out Ed Spiezio to end the game. [The Sporting News]
