Brooks Robinson collected five hits, including two homers, to lead the Orioles to an 8-6 victory in a slugfest with the Red Sox, who lost despite a grand slam by Tony Conigliaro. Don Buford homered for the Orioles in the first inning, but singles by Mike Andrews, Regge Smith and Carl Yastrzemski loaded the bases in the Red Sox half and Conigliaro followed with his wallop off Mike Cuellar for his second grand slam in four days.

The Orioles scored three runs in the second and went ahead with Brooks Robinson's first homer of the game in fourth, but George Scott tied the count with a circuit clout in the fifth. Robinson hit his second homer after singles by Frank Robinson and Paul Blair in the seventh. A solo swat by Scott for the Red Sox in the eighth proved a meaningless blow. [The Sporting News]
