After breaking a tie with a run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning, the Astros scored three more times to beat the Dodgers, 7-3. The Dodgers counted one run on a single by Billy Grabarkewitz in the second inning and two on a homer by Tom Haller in the fourth.

The Astros' first three runs of the game were unearned. With the score tied, Doug Rader and Cesar Cedeno singled for the Astros in the eighth, chasing Sandy Vance. Jim Brewer, in relief, threw one wild pitch to advance the runners and another to allow Rader to score. Cedeno crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Jesus Alou.
