Claude Raymond pitched three hitless innings of relief and also contributed a sacrifice bunt in the 13th when the Expos scored two runs to defeat the Cardinals, 9-7. The Expos got off to a 3-0 lead, but homers by Leron Lee and Joe Hague helped the Cardinals forge in front, 5-4, before Bob Bailey walked and scored from first base on a hit-and-run single by Jim Gosger in the seventh. Tom Hilgendorf walked two batters with the bases loaded in the 10th to send the Expos ahead, but Ted Simmons singled in the Cards' half and Jose Cardenal tied the score with a pinch-homer.

In the 13th, Coco Laboy singled and Raymond sacrificed. After an intentional pass to Boots Day, Bobby Wine beat out an infield hit to load the bases. Gary Sutherland then broke the tie with a sacrifice fly, and a wild pitch allowed Day to cross the plate with an insurance run. [The Sporting News]
