For the first time in history, two brothers became 20-game winners in the same season when Gaylord Perry of the Giants pitched a four-hitter and shut out the Astros, 11-0, for his 20th victory. His brother, Jim of the Twins, had 22 victories to his credit. The Giants backed Perry with an 11-hit attack, including a homer, double and single by Willie Mays. Bobby Bonds batted in three runs with a double in the eighth inning.
