. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Hoyt Wilhelm suffered his first loss since July 5 when the Astros defeated the Braves, 3-2, on a run-scoring single by Denis Menke with two out in the eighth inning. The Astros counted their first two tallies off Jim Nash. A triple by Jesus Alou and single by Joe Morgan produced a run in the first and a triple by Morgan and safe bunt by Bob Watson added a counter in the sixth.

Darrell Evans tied the score for the Braves with a two-run single in the seventh. Jim Wynn singled off Wilhelm with two away in the eighth and stole second. After a pass to Watson, Menke drove Wilhlem's knuckleball into left field for the winning single. [The Sporting News]
