. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Bill Gogolewski, a rookie from Pittsfield (Eastern), made his first major league start and received credit for the victory when the Senators defeated the Tigers, 4-2. Mike Epstein homered for the Nats in the second inning. Singles by Frank Howard and Epstein, a forceout of Epstein by Aurelio Rodriguez and singles by Ed Brinkman and Paul Casanova added two runs in the fourth. Rodriguez batted in the Senators' last tally with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Gogolewski was lifted with two out in the sixth. Darold Knowles and Horacio Pina finished. [The Sporting News]
