Two unearned runs on a pair of errors in the eighth inning enabled the Expos to defeat the Phillies, 4-2. Rusty Staub singled and Bob Bailey was safe on a boot by John Vukovich. Ron Fairly bunted and when Joe Hoerner threw wildly, Staub scored to break the 2-2 tie. Bailey reached third on an error and counted an extra run on a sacrifice fly by Ron Brand.
