Vada Pinson and Duke Sims each hit a two-run homer and Steve Mingori, pitching in relief, gained his first major league victory when the Indians defeated the Tigers, 4-3. Dick McAuliffe homered for the Tigers in the first inning and Norm Cash drove in a run with a single in the third, but the Indians tied the score in the sixth when Eddie Leon singled and Pinson hit for the circuit.

After the Tigers went ahead again with a run-scoring single by Al Kaline in the seventh, Buddy Bradford singled in the Indians' half and Sims smashed his homer to determine the outcome. [The Sporting News]
