The Athletics were held to two hits by Skip Lockwood and lost the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, 1-0, but came back with two homers by Bert Campaneris to beat the Brewers in the second game, 6-5. Lockwood gained his decision over Blue Moon Odom in the opener when the Brewers scored in the fifth inning on a single by Ted Kubiak, sacrifice by Lockwood, infield hit by Tommy Harper and single by Dave May.

In the nightcap, Campaneris hit a solo swat in the third inning and the A's went on to take a 4-1 lead. The Brewers picked up two runs in the sixth and forged ahead in the eighth when Ted Savage homered with a man on base. Savage also had two triples. In the ninth, Dave Duncan drew a walk and Campaneris hit his second homer of the game to give the A's their split. [The Sporting News]
