Getting a second chance at the plate when Rich Severson dropped a pop foul, Ted Kubiak singled with the bases loaded and two out in the 13th inning, scoring Ted Savage, to bring the Brewers a 4-3 victory over the Royals. The Brewers stepped out with two runs in the first inning on a homer by Dave May, but Lou Piniella hit a round-tripper for the Royals in the second and the tying run followed in the sixth on a single by Pat Kelly, his theft of second and a single by Ed Kirkpatrick.
