Bob Heise batted in three runs with a pair of singles to pace the Giants to a 4-3 victory over the Padres. Ken Henderson doubled and Bobby Bonds singled for a 'Frisco run in the second inning, but Nate Colbert homered with a man on for the Padres in their half.

 The Giants loaded the bases in the third and Heise singled, driving in two runs. Dick Dietz doubled in the fifth and counted what proved to be the winning run on Heise's second single. Ivan Murrell homered for the Padres with one out in the ninth, but Don McMahon replaced Rich Robertson and retired the last two batters to wind up the game. [The Sporting News]
