In the sunshine contest, a double by Mike Andrews, pass to Reggie Smith, single by Carl Yastrzemski and sacrifice fly by Rico Petrocelli produced two runs in the first inning. Three more followed in the second on a double by Billy Conigliaro, single by Bob Montgomery, double by Ken Brett, an infield out and a wild pitch. George Scott added a homer in the eighth.
