A theft of home on a double steal and a successful squeeze bunt were among the Brewers' accomplishments in a 4-3 victory over the the Royals. After the Brewers picked up a run in the first inning, Phil Roof was safe on an error in the fifth and Tommy Harper tripled. Mike Hegan walked and the pair then executed a double steal, Harper scoring.

The Brewers added what proved to be the winning run in the sixth on a double by Bob Burda, a sacrifice and a squeeze bunt by Roof, scoring pinch-runner Russ Snyder. The Royals bunched two walks and three singles for their runs in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
