Ray Culp registered his 16th victory of the season for the Red Sox and the 100th of his major league career by defeating the Senators, 3-1. Two homers carried Culp to his triumph. After the Senators picked up their run in the fifth inning, Tony Conigliaro tied the score with a circuit clout in the Red Sox half. Reggie Smith singled in the seventh and Rico Petrocelli provided the game-winning poke. [The Sporting News]
