. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Gary Nolan, who put himself ahead with a two-run single in the fifth inning, pitched the Reds to an 8-5 victory over the Dodgers. The triumph was the 101st of the season for the Reds, one more than the previous Cincinnati record by the 1940 world championship club. After Nolan's single broke a 4-4 tie, Lee May added a homer in the seventh and three singles produced the Reds' final tally in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
