After pitching no-hit hall for six innings, Tom Murphy was knocked out in the seventh, but the Angels held on to defeat the White Sox, 4-3, behind the relief work of Eddie Fisher. The Angels scored twice in the first inning and added their other pair in the sixth, with Murphy hitting a single to drive in what proved to be the winning run.

In the White Sox seventh, Jose Ortiz was safe on an error, Tommy McCraw singled for the first hit off Murphy and Bill Melton smashed a homer. When Carlos May followed with a single, Fisher relieved. [The Sporting News]
