. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A model of consistency, Jim Kaat won exactly 14 games for the third consecutive season when the lefthander pitched the first seven innings in the Twins' 4-0 victory over the Royals. Stan Williams relieved and then gave way to Ron Perranoski, who recorded the final out to pick up easy credit for his 34th save. Kaat marked his trumph by hitting a homer with a man on base in the second inning. [The Sporting News]
