The Astros ended their season with a string of seven straight victories by defeating the Giants, 5-4. Joe Morgan homered in the eighth inning to give the Astros a 4-3 lead, but the Giants tied the score in the ninth when Bob Heise was safe on an error and Bobby Bonds tripled.

In the Astros' half, Jim Wynn walked and John Mayberry sacrificed. After the Giants passed Larry Howard intentionally, Bob Watson batted for Fred Gladding and singled to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News]
