. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Dodgers, who played the first game in their new stadium in 1962, observed the opening of their 10th year in that park with appropriate ceremonies before a crowd of 31,413, but spoiled the occasion by losing to the Padres, 6-3. An error by Dick Allen on a fly ball hit by Dave Campbell to left field opened the gates for three unearned runs in the first inning. Then, in the second, after the Padres loaded the bases on singles by Dave Campbell and Larry Stahl and a pass to Cito Gaston, Nate Colbert cleared the sacks with a double. [The Sporting News]
