Playing in his first game with the Yankees, Felipe Alou smashed a homer in the fourth inning to start the scoring in an 8-4 victory over the Tigers. After the drive by the former Athletics' outfielder, the Yankees added three more runs in the same stanza. Winning pitcher Fritz Peterson drove in one with a single and got credit for a second RBI by drawing a pass with the bases loaded in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
