With help from Ted Abernathy, who retired the last two batters, Dick Drago was the winner when the Royals defeated the Brewers, 5-3. Drago had a four-hitter going into the ninth inning but had to leave the mound after the Brewers rallied for two runs on a single by Tommy Harper, a triple by Mike Hegan and a sacrifice fly by Dave May. Ed Kirkpatrick and Amos Otis homered in the Royals' 13-hit attack. [The Sporting News]
