Tom Bradley broke the seven-game losing streak of the White Sox by pitching a four-hitter to defeat the Athletics, 4-0. In the second inning, after Bill Melton and Rich McKinney singled, Rick Reichardt forced Melton at third and McKinney was caught between third and home on a single by Jay Johnstone. However, Ed Herrmann came through with a double, driving in Ed Stroud, who ran for Reichardt, and Johnstone. Bradley then singled to score Herrmann.
