Mel Queen struck out Cesar Tovar with the potential tying run on base in the ninth inning to enable the Angels to extend their winning streak to seven games with a 5-4 victory over the Twins. The defeat was the sixth straight for the Twins.

Homers by Jim Spencer and Alex Johnson produced three runs for the Angels in the third and they added two in the ninth on a double by Johnson, single by Jim Fregosi, a wild pitch and a single by Jerry Moses. [The Sporting News]
