The Giants extended their winning streak to eight games by sweeping a doubleheader with the Cubs, 5-1 and 8-1. In the lidlifter, the Giants erupted for all their runs in the fourth inning. George Foster, Jimmy Rosario and Tito Fuentes singled to load the bases with two out. Frank Johnson batted for Steve Stone and cleared the sacks with a double. Bobby Bonds followed with a two-run homer.
