With Vida Blue and Diego Segui pitching complete games, the Athletics swept a doubleheader from the White Sox, 11-2 and 6-1. The A's clinched the opener in the first inning by scoring five runs, only one earned, with the aid of two errors. Joe Rudi and Blue hit run-scoring doubles.

Sal Bando was the only A's player who failed to join in the 17-hit attack, but the third baseman made up for it in the nightcap. Bando slammed a homer in the seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie and batted in two teammates with a double in the eighth when the A's iced the verdict with four runs. [The Sporting News]
