. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Although collecting only one hit off Sam McDowell, the Royals took advantage of the lefthander's wildness and defeated the Indians, 5-2. In the fourth inning, after passes to Bob Oliver and Ed Kirkpatrick around a single by Dennis Paepke had loaded the bases, McDowell walked Jerry May, Dick Drago and Freddie Patek to force in three runs. After McDowell departed with one out in the sixth, the Royals got three more hits off Indian relievers, including a two-run single by Patek in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
