Willie Montanez, the Phillies' hot-hitting rookie outfielder, smashed a homer in the eighth inning to beat the Astros, 2-1. The Phillies counted their other run off Tom Griffin in the first on walks to Don Money and Montanez and a two-out single by Deron Johnson. The Astros nicked Rick Wise for the tying tally in the third on a triple by Joe Morgan and double by Jim Wynn. [The Sporting News]
