The Mets moved ahead of the Expos into first place in the East division when a run-scoring hit by Ken Boswell in the 12th inning beat the Astros, 4-3. Joe Morgan smashed Houston's first homer in the Astrodome this season, connecting with a man on base to tie the score at 3-3 in the eighth.

In the 12th, Bud Harrelson singled and advanced on a sacrifice by Tug McGraw. After an intentional pass to Ed Kranepool, Boswell bounced his winning hit off second baseman Morgan's glove. [The Sporting News]
