Four White Sox pitchers, starting with Tommy John, yielded only five hits in a 5-3 victory over the Senators. Carlos May led the White Sox at bat against Denny McLain with a homer and two singles. All three of the Senators' runs were unearned as a result of rookie shortstop Lee Richard's third error of the game. [The Sporting News]
