In a duel between undefeated pitchers, Larry Dierker triumphed over Tom Seaver when the Astros defeated the Mets, 3-1. A double by Joe Morgan and singles by Jim Wynn, Bob Watson and Denis Menke gave the Astros two runs in the first inning and they added the other tally when Morgan homered in the third.
