Winning his fifth straight game, Jim Palmer pitched the Orioles to a 4-1 victory over the Angels. Jim Spencer homered for the Angels in the first inning, but the Orioles took command with three runs in the fourth on a single by Don Buford, doubles by Mark Belanger and Boog Powell and a single by Frank Robinson.
