. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A single by Bud Harrelson in the seventh inning drove in the tie-breaking run to give the Mets a 2-1 victory over the Cubs. Bob Aspromonte hit his first homer in a Mets' uniform in the second inning and the Cubs picked up their run on doubles by Ron Santo and Johnny Callison in the fifth.

Jerry Grote singled for the Mets in the seventh and stopped at second on a single by Don Hahn. Al Weis forced Hahn, but Harrelson came through with a clutch single. [The Sporting News]
