Unbeaten Larry Dierker received credit for his fifth straight victory when the Astros defeated the Expos, 5-2. Steve Renko's fate as the starter for the Expos was sealed in the first inning. Roger Metzger singled, Joe Morgan walked and Jim Wynn singled for one run. Morgan stole third and continued home on a wild throw by catcher John Bateman.
