Willie Mays, playing his first game since the previous day's celebration of his 40th birthday, drove in a run with a single in the 10th inning to give the Giants a 4-3 victory over the Braves. Earl Williams homered for the Braves in the ninth to send the game into overtime. Bobby Bonds doubled in the Giants' 10th, went to third on a bunt by Chris Speier and scored on Mays' single.
