. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Five players each drove in a run for the Giants to account for a 5-2 victory in the opener of a doubleheader, but the Braves came back to win the nightcap in 10 innings, 6-5. The Giants' hits in the lidlifter included a homer by Willie Mays.

In the second game, Willie McCovey hit a three-run homer and Russ Gibson rapped a two-run triple to produce the Giants' runs. Orlando Cepeda smashed a grand-slam homer for the Braves in the third inning and tied the score at 5-5 with a solo swat in the sixth. Ralph Garr singled in the 10th for his fourth hit of the game. After an infield hit by Felix Millan, Cepeda flied out, but Earl Williams singled to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News]
